OGD Test

The term "OGD medical test" typically refers to an Upper Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, which is a medical procedure used to examine the upper digestive system. During an OGD (Oesophago-Gastro-Duodenoscopy), a flexible tube with a camera and light on the end (endoscope) is inserted through the mouth and down into the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum. This procedure allows doctors to visually inspect the lining of these organs for abnormalities such as inflammation, ulcers, tumors, or bleeding. OGD tests are commonly performed to diagnose and monitor conditions like gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcers, Barrett's esophagus, and certain types of cancer. It is generally considered a safe and effective diagnostic tool when performed by trained medical professionals in a clinical setting.
